Where Does Your Money Go?

Many customers ask the usual one-million-dollar question: “Where does my money go? Why do I have to pay for trekking? Why is kayaking and biking so expensive in Luang Prabang? Trekking should be for free, or no?”

Please note that from the total price you pay to us our margin is only on the verge of survival. Our company, 100% Lao family business, has a range of expenses you probably do not know about.

From every tour we pay approximately 35% for transfer, 25% for accommodation or operational services, 15% guides (all recruited from the tribal communities), 10% governmental taxes and 5 % ticket entrance fees. Our margin is about 10% per tour before deducting costs for salaries of the staff, renting of the offices, annual fees for elephant catering and other fixed costs.

As we try to operate our business in accordance with sustainable tourism principles we have to operate our business with certain costs. However, with your cooperation we can help to build our communities in a prosperous way while providing you with unique Lao experience.
